Booking Flaminia House

Hotel prices and room rates in Italy, and especially in Rome, vary greatly depending on location and services provided. Our bed and breakfast is quite simply a privately run 'family' place, and we try to keep our prices affordable for people attending special events near the Ponte Milvio area, as well as tourists looking for a unique cultural experience in Italy. Our goal is to provide affordable accommodation in a clean room for our guests. We would also like to do something more, adding some free services to the room, such as Internet and the use of a coffe corner

Looking for something different? Find a B&B in the Centre of Rome!

Rome has a wide selection of hotels and other accomodations to suit every pocket. There is the world renowed, old-school variety as well as the luxurious, but more anonymous, modern type. There is a pletora of medium-priced hotels, all with their individual style and services.

Finding a place to stay in Rome can be a difficoult, especially if you do not know the city. By looking at the map of Rome, everything seems so close, but when you look at the colossal number of hotels, bed and breakfast and other places where to stay, you can find yourself in trouble. Where should I stay? We at Flaminia House Bed and Breakfast, suggest you the stay near the real center of Rome. But where this center is, and even in the center, where is the better place to stay? Some suggestion
  • 1)Do not book any accomodation near the Central Railway Station (Termini Station – Stazione Termini), unless you have a real reason to stay there or you know the place you are booking. Some of our returning guests told us about the experiences they had when staying at bed and breakfast or even hotels close to the Termini Station. The Central Station is near the center of Rome, and it is full of bus lines that brings you everywhere, but is not nice to walk in that area at night.
  • 2)Find a place near the center of Rome: the Phanteon is the real touristic center of Rome, any place near it is ok.
  • 3)Stay inside the old Roman Aurelian Walls (Mura Aureliane) this will even save you money with taxi fares from and to the Ciampino and Fiumicino Airports. Please see the map at the end of the page to verify is the place you are booking is inside the Aurelian Walls.
  • 4)Drow a line from Piazza del Popolo to San Peter Square on one side and to the Central Station on the other side. Close the square from the Central Station to the Colosseo and again to San Peter. This is the area close to the center.
  • 5)Find a place near the Metro Line A. This Line of the Metro touches the most important touristic destinations in Rome, suche as San Peter Square, the Spamnish Steps, Borghese Gardens, and even the Central Station, from where you can arrange the transportation to the airports.
  • 6)Hotels and B&B in the center of Rome are more expensive, if you are money concerned, we suggest you to find a place in the Prati Area, just beyond the Tevere River, near San Peter Square. You have two advantages: you can catch the Metro A to any destination, you can book one of the many B&B of the area, you are still very close the center of Rome, especially if you stay close the important street named Via Cola di Rienzo. There is also a pedestrian street that goes directly to San Peter Squares. The Prati area is also full of restaurants and is a place where local people lives, so that in night time you will never find yourself alone (this may happen in some central area of Rome, such as Via del Corso, where few, but lucky, people live).
  • 7)We do not suggest you to book a place in the Trastevere area. Yes, you will find in a touristic place, but it is not an advantage, in our opinion, since that area changed a lot because of that. It's nice to visit Trastevere at night time, specially during the summer, but not living there.
  • 7)Check the following map to have an idea of the Center of Rome, than scan B&B, hotels and so on with Internet

4 Steps To Find Your Best Accomodation in Rome

1 - Determine your practical needs

Why are you visiting Rome? Would you stay in a place in the middle of nowhere or be close to the places you are considering to visit? Imagine to book an affordable location, such as a B&B in the outskirts of Rome, and ending up to spend the most of your time in the subways or walking in a unpleasant environment. If you are visiting the historical center, be close to it. If you are visiting the outskirts, just forget about a room in or near the center of Rome. Does it make sense to you? And always consider to book a place near any Bus public transportation, especially if you need to haul lots of luggage.

2 - Determine your budget and stick to it

Remember the cost of the accomodation in Rome is just one of your holiday costs. Food, entrance tickets to places of interest (and there are many in Rome) public transportation, tips (if necessary) are just a few of the additional costs of your travelling to Italy, so take them in mind when booking the room.

3 - Determine your emotional needs, which accomodation really makes you happy when you arrive to Rome

Rome is such a beautiful City, but you will spend some time also in your accomodation, so why not stay in a conformtable and cosy room? On average, B&B are family run accomodations that can disappoint the travellers …so if you hate to be disappointed, look for a professionally run B&B or at least a place that looks like it. Rome is a nice city…so you better make sure you are really happy with your accomodation.

4 – Google Search, Google Maps, Tripadvisors and so on

Finding an accomodation in Rome should not just be a couple of hour task but should take place only after careful considerations and research. And after investing your precious time to do steps from 1 to 3, and then coming up with your short list of potential accomodations, do not blow it! Spend your next available time getting more information about each place.

4 Use the Tools Internet provides

Thank's to Google Visual, you now have at least a view of the street where you are going to book your room! Do not trust the magnificent descriptions provided by the owners... you can see with your eyes where you are landing. Compare places and surroundings and makes 100% sure you are in a nice and cosy area.
